Dogs are wonderful, amazing creatures. Many are extremely bright and gifted; most are smarter than we give them credit for! At Autumn Retrievers we treat all dogs and their owners as individuals, with their own needs and schedules - we don't believe that one set program will work for every dog. After all, they are individuals.

Our training is customized for each owner and dog and is geared towards teaching the owner as well as training the dog. We ask a lot of questions about the type of hunting you do as well as the family situation at home. We will evaluate your dog and give you our recommendations for training so that you will have the dog you want.

We emphasize a solid foundation in basic obedience together with the field work.

We like to start puppies on birds as early as possible in order to develop and enhance their natural abilities. Dogs in training are kept 'on birds' (unless circumstances dictate otherwise).

All dogs are taught that there are rules, and their owners are taught how to enforce those rules at home and in the field, in order to foster a working partnership between the dog and handler.
